Joint research cruise between the Cook Islands and China
This research cruise is a partnership between SBMA, China Deep Ocean Affairs Administration, First Institute of Oceanography and Second Institute of Oceanography. The Da Yang Hao ship was transiting from Suva to the Clarion Clipperton Zone and took the opportunity to divert through the Cook Islands.
The primary objective of SRTR was to witness its capabilities in deep sea research whereby a number of different technologies were demonstrated and valuable baseline environmental data collected. The voyage supported knowledge transfer, strengthened partnerships with international scientists. All of the information is or will be placed in the public domain.
